Governance of the Marseille institute for rare diseases is provided by several complementary bodies that monitor, implement and evaluate the Institute’s missions and initiatives. The MarMaRa’s executive office implements and coordinates its initiatives and missions.

Our other strategic and operational monitoring bodies

The Institute’s executive office works with 5 other structures, which monitor the MarMaRa’s operational and strategic activities: the Institute Council, the Scientific Committee, the Training Committee, the Advisory Board and the STAB (Scientific and Training Advisory Board).

The Institute Council ensures the smooth running of the MarMaRa. It monitors missions, field or strategic changes and conducts the annual assessment of the Institute’s actions. Its members have an advisory capacity and are entitled to vote. They meet at least once a year.

Members with a consultative voice:

  • Deputy Research Director
  • Deputy Training Director
  • Project Manager
  • Director of the university’s doctoral college
  • Student and PhD student representative

The Scientific Committee helps to implement activities by providing operational and strategic support. Its members meet at least 4 times a year to make decisions about and assess actions, help to draw up the Institute’s policy, advise the Institute’s Office and assess and select grant applications.

Current composition:

12 representatives from 8 of the Institute’s partner laboratories.

The Training Committee’s (Master’s working group, PhD programme and seminars) missions include:

  • Discuss and implement doctoral training
  • Monitor and assess the doctoral training programme
  • Advise the Institute’s Office

7 members from 4 institute laboratories

The Advisory Board’s missions are:

  • Approve the guidelines and their annual update
  • Issue opinions and recommendations concerning the coherence between the guidelines and the budget
  • Approve investments for the year ahead.

The Scientific and Training Advisory Board – STAB - is made up of external experts who represent the Institute’s strategies and fields of research. The main roles of the STAB consist in providing strategic advice on the planning and carrying out of the Institute’s missions, and in proposing recommendations regarding the Institute’s annual activity report.
