Doctoral training program

Are you interested in rare diseases? Do you wonder how rare diseases are coordinated and structured at national and European level? Would you like to know more about preclinical development, medical genetics, microscopy or statistics? Would you like to get started and develop your professional network in the field of rare diseases? Then the training courses offered by theInstitut des Maladies Rares de Marseille - MarMaRa - are just what you're looking for!

Priority is given to PhD students. However, if the maximum number of participants is not reached, they are also open to Master's students, engineers and researchers from our laboratories.

After each course, a certificate of attendance is issued on request. In addition, doctoral students can validate up to 7 hours of training with their Doctoral School.

The 2025 program is now available, so don't wait any longer, consult it and register!

Focus on the 2025 doctoral program

In January 2025, for the fourth year running, the MarMaRa institute launched its doctoral training program, comprising courses specific to rare diseases and cross-disciplinary courses open to European CIVIS universities and international students:

Between January and June 2024, four training courses were held, attended by over 80 students and researchers.

In 2025, the following courses will be available

  • Statistics for genomics: continuous probability distributions (March 11, 2025, distance learning)
  • Introduction to microscopy for cell and tissue imaging (March 12, 2025 in person at Institut Fresnel, Marseille)
  • Fundamental notions in Medical Genetics (May 7, 2025, remote)
  • Workshop on Single-cell RNA-seq (May 27, 2025, remote)
  • Statistics for genomics: discrete probability distributions (May 28, 2025, remote)
  • Workshop on bulk RNA-seq preprocessing analysis (September 16, 2025, remote)

  • "The teachers were great and passionate."
  • "I found the training very informative and well-balanced for the amount of time we had, I enjoyed the teacher's explanations and conduct, and the format was appropriate for the subject."
  • "The time for discussion and answering questions at the end of the day was really great. I learned a lot!"
  • "The training was very enriching and the format very well constructed."
  • "The contents of the course met my expectations as they helped me understand the fundamental basis of statistical tests and how they apply to genomics data. This is exactly the introduction I was looking for."
  • "The various modules I followed via the doctoral training offered by MarMaRa (medical genetics, statistics, imaging, RNA-seq) from my first year of doctoral studies gave me concrete reference points to move forward with my thesis, helping me to structure my ideas, analyze my data, take a step back on my own project and strengthen my professional network."
